Denver JDS has been granted the opportunity to work on the third year of Live On | LIFE & LEGACY. This partnership between Rose Community Foundation and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation provides training, support, and incentives in order to promote a culture of legacy giving and endowment building that will strengthen Denver JDS for future generations.

Since Live On | LIFE & LEGACY began in 2018, the 28 participating organizations have secured over 750 new legacy commitments with an estimated value of nearly $40 million. This is in addition to the nearly 1,000 legacy commitments secured during the first four phases of Live On beginning in 2005. Additionally, participating organizations have stewarded legacy donors and formalized legacy commitments, ensuring that supporters feel engaged, honored, and valued.

Rose and Grinspoon believe that as year three of the initiative began on June 1, 2020 times have changed. Our communities’ needs have shifted drastically since the outbreak of COVID-19, and the way we engage our supporters looks different than it did only a few months ago. While this crisis is affecting different organizations in different ways, we know you are all facing new challenges and a changed operating and fundraising environment.  At the same time, the uncertainty we all feel also points to the importance of continuing to build endowments. Endowments provide stability and flexibility in times like these, and we believe it is important to help our Jewish community continue to grow these funds in order to be prepared for whatever the future may bring. The current situation also calls for engaging our supporters in new and meaningful ways. People are hungry for connection, eager to help and looking for support from a community that cares about them. For these reasons, we think the continuation of this initiative is more important now than it has ever been.

Denver JDS thanks Rose and Grinspoon Foundations for the continuance of this legacy program that is helping 28 Denver and Boulder Jewish agencies to seek legacy gifts to grow each organizations' endowment.
