Alumni Speaker - Jason Auerbach


 


Jason Auerbach attended Herzl/RMHA from Kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating from Denver JDS (then RMHA) in 2000. He is the son of Terri and Jeff Auerbach and the grandson of Carolyn and the late Ralph Auerbach and the late Sonya and Robert Binstock, all of Denver.

Following DJDS, Jason earned a bachelor’s degree in history, summa cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania (2004), and a J.D. cum laude from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law (2008), where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and a Dean’s Distinguished Scholar. He also served as an articles editor for the Cardozo Law Review.

In 2008 Jason joined Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, where he is currently a counsel and a member of the firm’s Investment Management Group. He lives in Englewood, NJ with his wife, Alexandra, and their three children, each of whom attends the Moriah School of Englewood, where Jason serves as a member of the Board of Trustees.



Honoree - Jerry Rotenberg


 

Jerry Rotenberg has been teaching Chumash (Bible) at Denver JDS for thirty years. He has also taught gym classes, coached athletic teams, served as special activities director, student council advisor, yearbook advisor, color war director, class trip organizer/chaperone and countless other roles.

A second generation Denverite married to a third-generation Denverite, Jerry and Shelley Rotenberg have two children, both of whom are also Denver JDS alumni. Their daughter, Channa Schweid, following in family tradition, now also teaches Judaics at Denver JDS.

Before beginning his career at Denver JDS, Rotenberg taught at Community Talmud Torah and the Beth Joseph Hebrew School. He served as Ritual Director at Beth Joseph Congregation and continues to serve as the Ba'al Koreh (Torah Reader) at BMH-BJ. Rotenberg has read Torah for more than 33 years. He even had a job delivering pickles!

Jerry Rotenberg has educated and inspired generations of students and helped mold leaders of Jewish and secular communities.

 


Honorees - Drs. Leslie Stewart and Stuart Senkfor


 



Drs. Leslie Stewart and Stuart Senkfor, in addition to being the proud parents of three Denver JDS alumni, have long been dedicated members of the Denver JDS community. 

Leslie, a Cleveland, Ohio native, is an esteemed dermatologist in private practice. She has served on various committees involving Israel Bonds, Hebrew Educational Alliance, Aish Denver, Denver Jewish Day School, The Jewish Experience, National Council of Jewish Women, and Denver Academy of Torah. 

Leslie’s Denver JDS involvement has spanned everything from Purim bag stuffing, book fairs, dinner committees, and search committees. She is the recipient of the National Council of Jewish Women’s 2011 Jewish Business Woman of Colorado Award. 

Stuart, also from Cleveland, Ohio, is a nephrologist in private practice and a leader in the Denver medical community. He has served on a variety of boards and committees including Israel Bonds, JEWISHcolorado, Hebrew Educational Alliance, Denver Jewish Day School, Colorado Agency for Jewish Education (CAJE) and The Jewish Experience.  

His philanthropic philosophy has been to serve on committees and boards with broad community impact and with a focus on quality programming.
