Congratulations to Denver Jewish Day School senior, Maya Friedlander who capped off a decorated high school Cross-Country career this winter! Maya competed on the Cherry Creek High School JV/Varsity Girls Cross-Country for the past four years. Maya was a senior captain on this year’s Varsity squad who set a personal record of 21:57.94 in the 5K (3.1 Kilometers) this year. Most recently at the 2023 USATF Colorado Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships, Maya’s team placed first overall and Maya ranked fourth individually. Maya and her team advanced to the 2023 USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships, where she placed 18th overall in the 17/18 age group category and was named an All-American. This marks the first time in DJDS history that a student has been named an All-American in any sport. Mazel tov Maya on a phenomenal Cross Country career. This is a well-deserved accomplishment and a testament to all of the hard work and dedication she has put in throughout her high school career.

“It’s a very gratifying feeling to see all of my hard work and dedication pay off,” said Maya. “I couldn’t be happier with the ending to my high school cross-country career, and I’m so proud of my Cherry Creek team and teammates.”
