K-5 Substitute Teacher

Title: K-5 Substitute Teacher

Term: 26-27 School Year

Reports To: Lower Division Dean, Jodie Applebaum

Job Description: Denver Jewish Day School Lower Division seeks innovative, creative, knowledgeable substitute teachers for our Substitute Teaching Pool. Qualified candidates will have some teaching experience and a valid substitute teaching license. Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding teaching skills, have experience in independent schools, be familiar with best practice in all content areas, be comfortable employing project-based learning and other student-centered approaches in the classroom, and possess excellent communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues. We are looking for candidates who have experience with a diverse population of learners, differentiated instruction, and future-ready teaching practices. Candidates will be positive school community members and will enjoy working collaboratively with a team and building positive relationships amongst all constituencies.

Education/Certification: Valid substitute teaching license preferred, BA degree preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

• Knowledge of school curriculum, standards, and best practices for grades K-5

• Knowledge of future-ready/21st century skills and success in focusing on them in the classroom

• Familiarity with best practices for student engagement and classroom management

• Experience and comfort with educational technology preferred

• Experience and comfort with project-based learning preferred

Experience: Some experience as a classroom teacher, preschool teacher, or camp counselor.
Salary Range:$180 daily.
