Rose Medical Athlete of the Year Award

Each school year, a male and female recipient from the 11th grade is awarded the Rose Medical Athlete of the Year Award. The recipients are selected by a committee that combines the amount of sports played, how long each candidate has played each sport, statistics accumulated playing, leadership qualities on the court and field, and each candidate's academics over the course of their high school careers.

Rose Medical Center has partnered with this award since 2003. Here are the 2023 award recipients:

What do Athletics at DJDS look like?

2023 Varsity Boys Basketball Team Win Class 1A Colorado State Championship

Our 2023 Varsity Boys Basketball team won the 2023 State Championship - the first championship in school history. Our Tigers defeated Belleview Christian in the championship game 55-42 on March 11, 2023. Our Tigers became the 3rd Jewish school in the history of the United States to ever win a basketball state championship.

In so far as the soul is a force residing in the body;
it has therefore been said that the properties of the soul
depend of the condition of the body.

— Maimonides, Guide to the Perplexed Chapter 12

Athletics at Denver JDS

At Denver Jewish Day School our athletics embody who we are as a community. While our short-term goals of achieving success on the playing field are important, our coaches are always focused on one common goal — helping our students grow and mature into fine, young leaders on and off the playing field.

Students from all grades create one united community at Denver JDS, and our athletics program takes that dynamic to the next level. Teamwork, perseverance, communication, and leadership are all qualities we believe lead to future success in life, and we see these qualities shine on the court and playing fields every day. It is truly a unique way to witness the ruach (spirit) at our school.

Denver JDS is a member of the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA), and participates in interscholastic competition on a 1A, District 8, and 5280 League level.

Our Coaches

Our coaches take great pride in working with athletes at Denver JDS. Unlike larger school environments, our Class 1-A sports teams give our students an opportunity to form deep bonds and relationships with their coaches and teammates. COMING SOON: Get to know our coaches.
