Lower Division Principal
 
Meet Ms. Shaprio

Elana joined the Denver JDS faculty in 2002 as a Technology Specialist and has held many roles here before becoming Lower Division Principal. She holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado and served on the faculty of the Program for Early Developmental Studies at the University of Health Sciences Center before coming to Denver JDS. Elana is passionate about Jewish day school education, and is the proud parent of two Denver JDS graduates.

Meet Dr. Levy

Information about Dr. Dr. Levy has been involved in the field of Jewish Education since 2002, working in the areas of supplemental education, day school education, adult education, and experiential education. She holds a Masters in Jewish Education from Hebrew College, a Doctorate in Education from Northwestern University, and certificates in Advanced Jewish Studies, Day School Education, and Jewish Educational Leadership. She is also a mom to four enthusiastic children and is excited to be a part of DJDS team.

Meet Rabbi Goodman

Rabbi Goodman has been teaching for 14 years and is in his fifth year at Denver JDS. He has a BA in Political Science from George Washington University and a Master's in Rabbinic Studies & Rabbinic Ordination from the University of Judaism from the University of Judaism. He likes skiing, Colorado Rapids soccer and social justice. He especially likes spending time with his wife, Noa, and his two children, Yigal and Etta.

Meet Mrs. Klein

Mrs. Klein has been a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of Colorado since 1993 and has a BS from Northwestern University and an MA from California Graduate Institute. She joined Denver JDS in 1994 and loves the community experience here. When she's not working, Mrs. Klein enjoys hiking with her dog, Jack Willy.

Meet Ms. Brigitte

Ms. Brigitte's is typically the first face to greet you upon arrival at Denver JDS. 2014 marked the graduation of the first kindergarten class she worked with 13 years ago. "To say I was a little verklempt is an understatement. I had the honor of watching these beautiful human beings progress from tiny children to the magnificent adults they are today. WOW am I lucky woman," she says. Ms. Brigitte and her husband live in Conifer where they enjoy hiking and camping with their dogs.

A Denver native, Mrs. Ulitzky earned her degree in elementary education from Washburn University and received her Masters in reading from Regis Universtiy. Before coming to Denver JDS, she spent a total of 7 years teaching in the Denver and Aurora Public Schools. When not teaching, Mrs. Ulitzky enjoys hiking, music, reading, cooking and spending time with her husband and daughters.

Meet Morah Eldar

Morah Eldar was born in Israel, where she earned her BA in social studies instruction. She and her family moved to Dallas in 2000, and there she taught Hebrew/Jewish Studies at Levine Academy elementary school. Morah Eldar moved to Denver with her husband and their three boys in 2014.

Mrs. Kruse has been part of the Denver JDS family for more than 30 years and loves watching children learn, grow, and become independent. Her favorite book is To Kill A Mockingbird and the advice she gives to both students and teachers is: enjoy and have fun.

Ms. Versman is a Denver native with nine years of experience teaching in Cherry Creek schools. She has a BA in communications from Bradley University and earned her teaching license at Metropolitan State University. Ms. Versman's favorite thing about teaching is watching her students learn and grow. When she isn't teaching, Mrs. Versman likes to travel, attend theater, and spend time with her family and friends.

Meet Morah Esti

Morah Esti was born in Israel and earned her BA from the University of Alabama. She has been a teacher for 13 years and came to Denver JDS in 2009. Morah Esti is passionate about her Jewish heritage loves teaching children to understand and love Israel and their Jewish heritage and traditions. Her favorite Denver JDS experience is celebrating Kabbalat Shabbat together in the Strear Family Gymnasium

Mrs. Rich was a substitute in the Cherry Creek school district for eight years before joining Denver JDS in 2007. She has a BA in Education from Stephens College in Columbia, MO and loves the "ahaa" moment when children get a concept. She says compassion and understanding are the most important qualities of a teacher.

Meet Ms. Weiker

Ms. Weiker has a BS from Colorado State University, a BA for the University of Northern Colorado, and is working on Master's degree. Her favorite author is Roald Dahl, and she loves teaching because she is surrounded by creativity, discovery, and excitement. Ms. Weiker has been teaching for five years, and came to Denver JDS in 2013.

A Denver native, Ms. Satler earned her degree in early childhood eduation from the University of Northern Colorado. She has spent a year as a DPS first grade teacher and prior to that taught special education and math as a paraprofessional. Ms. Satler is also an outdoor educator for various programs and is passionate about teaching survival skills and flora identification.

Meet Morah Silvi

Morah Silvi has been teaching for 18 years, and joined the Denver JDS family in 2006. She was born and raised in Israel, and has also lived in Mexico. Morah Silvi loves to be around kids and see them learning. Her favorite moment at DJDS is the second grade Chaggigat Chumash ceremony.

Mrs. McDermid spent seven years teaching in New York City public schools and another seven as a second and third grade teacher at Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School in Chicago before joining Denver JDS. She has a Master's in literacy education and is passionate about the integration of technology in the classroom and giving students authentic learning experiences through technology.

Meet Mr. Sawyer

Mr. Sawyer has a BA in musical theatre from the University of Northern Colorado and a Master's in education from Regis University. He loves teaching because being able to believe in yourself is one of life's biggest lessons, and as a teacher, he can be the beacon to assist that. Mr. Sawyer's favorite book is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

Meet Morah Lena

Morah Lena earned her BA in early childhood in Israel, where she was born. She has been part of the Denver JDS family since 2007 and says the most important quality of being a teacher is patience. Morah Lena's most memorable Denver JDS experience was her first 3rd grade overnight field trip.

Rabbi Levitt has been teaching for 30 years and joined the Denver JDS family in 2001. He earned his BA from Yeshiva University, Master's in Education from the University of Houston, his teaching certificate from The Center for Teacher Training, his Rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Moshe Feinstein, obi, and his completed his Doctoral program at the Azrielli Graduate School for Jewish Education & Administration. Rabbi loves teaching because he can help empower children to discover the world and appreciate the gifts and purpose of life.

Meet Mrs. Muller

Mrs. Muller joined Denver JDS in 2013, but has been teaching for more than 25 years. She has a BA in elementary education and education the mentally handicapped from the University of Northern Colorado and a Master's in education administration and curriculum development from CU. Mrs. Muller says the most important quality of a teacher is being a life-long learner and having empathy for students as they are learning.

Meet Mrs. Applebaum

Mrs. Applebaum, a Denver JDS alum, has a BA in journalism from the University of Southern California and a Master's in educational psychology from the University of Colorado at Denver. She has been teaching for six years and came to Denver JDS in 2011. Her most memorable learning experience was leading Color War with the rest of her senior class here at Denver JDS (then Herzl/RMHA).

Meet Mr. Rozansky

Mr. Rozansky graduated with a degree in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwukee. After spending eight months in Israel, he moved to Steamboat Springs to enjoy the ski-town life for two years. Realizing his need for a larger Jewish community, Mr. Rozansky moved to Denver in the spring of 2010 and joined Denver JDS in 2013. His most memorable educational experience is learning to love math in 11th grade.

Meet Mrs. Sheinbaum

Mrs. Sheinbaum has been teaching for 14 years and joined Denver JDS in 2010. With a BA from Brown University and a Master's from the University of Colorado, she loves teaching because it is joyful, engaging, and fulfilling. Mrs. Sheinbaum's favorite DJDS moment is seeing the kids every morning, and her most memorable learning experience was confronting and prevailing against her own shortcomings as a writer and thinker in eleventh grade argument class.

Morah Mali earned her degree at Siminar Hakibuzim in Israel, and has been teaching for 22 years, the vast majority of which have been here at Denver JDS. Her advice for teacher and students alike is to maintain good communication, and she loves teaching because she loves to learn.

Meet Ms. Weinberg

Ms. Weinberg graduated with a BS and K-12 teaching certification in physical education from the University of Maryland. She spent two years as a 1st-6th grade P.E. teacher and middle school Judiac studies teacher in Memphis, TN before earning her personal training certification from the Wingate Institute in Netanya, Israel. A proud Texan, Ms. Weinberg has most recently been the program director and lead instructor at The Little Gym of Frisco in Dallas, TX.

Morah Lara has a BA in education from the University of Missouri Saint Louis and has been teaching for 10 years. She loves teaching at Denver JDS because she gets to share her love of being Jewish with her classroom family every day. Mrs. Feld got her BA in music education and MA in education at the Music Conservatory in Tel Aviv. She has been teaching for 26 years and joined the Denver JDS family in 2002. Mrs. Feld loves teaching because she can open children's minds and hearts to music so they will continue their growth, love, and appreciation for the creative arts.

Meet Mr. Einstein

Mr. Einstein studied psychology and education at Colorado College, and most recently worked as the Director of Technology at the Steamboat Mountain School, where he taught technology, film, photography and the arts. Mr. Einstein enjoys skiing, hiking, camping and climbing as well as art drama, music and dance. He is excited to teach creative technology tools to inspire Denver JDS students and teachers to become leaders in our dynamic digital world.

Mrs. Whistler has a BA in elementary education and a MA in curriculum & instruction from Arizona State University. She has been teaching for 10 years and joined Denver JDS in 2010. Mrs. Whistler's most memorable learning experience was her very first day as a teacher in her own classroom, and says the most important qualities of a teacher are flexibility and a love of learning.
