Common Application online

The Common Application is a not-for-profit organization that provides an admission application that students can submit to 391 colleges. Once completed online or in print copies can be sent to any number of participating schools. The common application streamlines the work of applying to college. In 2008-9 almost 1.4 million applications were submitted via the Common Application.

This is a wonderful site created by the Colorado State Legislature. Tabs for plan, apply and pay direct users to a plethora of valuable information. Under “Plan” you can take assessments to help you think about careers, get information about careers and use a format to build a good looking resume. Click on “Apply” and you can compare colleges side by side, take tours of Colorado colleges, use a tool to search for campuses that match combinations of criteria and apply electronically to Colorado colleges. The advantage here is that you don’t have to submit information to Colorado colleges multiple times. Perhaps best of all is “Pay” tab. You can link to the financial aid award estimator and the FAFSA. Explore this section and the entire site for outstanding resources unbiased by commercial interest.
