How to Apply to Denver Jewish Day School

The application deadline for the 2012-2013 school year is January 13, 2012.
All application materials on the Application Checklist must be turned in by this time. Late applications will be considered on a space available basis.

School Tour
A school tour enables you to see Denver Jewish Day School in action. Please schedule a tour with the Admission Office by calling 720-449-9550.
Open House
We will host an open house on November 3, 2011 on our school campus. This event is an opportunity for prospective families to visit our school and hear from faculty, parents, and students. A school tour also takes place. To RSVP, call 720-449-9522 or e-mail sfriedman@denverjds.org.
Please note, you are not required to come for a private tour and the open house. You are free to choose one or the other, but welcome to attend both if you like.

School Visits
Once the admission office has received your complete application, you will be contacted to schedule a visit to the Denver Jewish Day School in accordance with the procedures below. Please note, when applying to grades 1-12, a completed application is not required for a school visit. Kindergarten
Eligible applicants for Kindergarten will be 5 years of age by October 1, 2012.
Kindergarten applicants will attend a group visit on one of the following days: February 1, February 8, February 15, February 22 or February 29 from 9:00-10:00 a.m.
Private screenings will be scheduled on an individual basis if the admission team feels more information is needed to make the admission decision.
Grades 1-5
Applicants for grades 1-5 will be contacted to schedule a morning visit in their current grade level classroom. Applicants will be greeted by admission staff, introduced to the teacher, and assigned a “host” from that grade. The applicant will participate in all of the classroom activities that morning and stay for lunch (provided by the school). Applicants should arrive at 8:00 a.m. and will leave after lunch Parents should plan to stay for a short conversation with the admission director after their child is settled in the classroom.
Grades 6-12
Applicants for grades 6-12 will be contacted to schedule a morning visit in our Upper Division. The applicant will be greeted by admission staff and assigned a “host,” from the Upper Division with whom the applicant will attend classes for the morning. Applicants should arrive by 7:30 a.m. and will leave after lunch (provided by the school). Parents will also be contacted by the admission director for a brief conversation.
Notification
Notification for the 2012-2013 school year will be mailed in accordance with the following schedule, determined by the Association of Colorado Independent Schools:
Grades K-5: March 5, 2012
Grades 6-8: February 27, 2012
Grades 9-12: February 23, 2012
Contracts, enrollment fee, and deposits must be postmarked by the following dates in order to secure your child’s spot in our school.*
Grades K-5: March 15, 2012
Grades 6-8: March 7, 2012
Grades 9-12: March 2, 2012
